Spring has arrived and its worth keeping an eye on the fish in your pond. In warmer weather the fish will become more active as the pond temperature rises and start to metabolise which means they will need to be fed, slowly at first with a wheatgerm pellet until the water temperature goes above 11 degrees Celsius when a staple diet can be used. Only at above 13 degrees Celsius would we recommend using a higher protein food as fish will struggle to break the proteins down in cooler temperatures. Currently the temperature of ponds is around 7 degrees Celsius so no need to feed dormant fish, however temperatures are likely to go up slowly from now on so monitor your fish and temperature if possible.
