At Maltby Aquatics we specalise in custom made gravity filters. A gravity filter very simply works by pumping water up into a collection chamber which then passes through different stages of the filter which remove solids and fish wastes, the clean water then feeds back into the pond via gravity. These gravity fed filters are custom made to suit any position and are finished in wood with easy access lids to allow for maintenance. These filters are competitively priced and would suit the larger pond containing fish being a cheaper option than the commercially built large units.

Gravity Fed Filtration

Each Gravity filter can have up to 8 chambers with a minimum of 2. These chambers can vary in size depending on space available but work just like a conventional filter, they provide space to house filter media which breaks down organic materials which otherwise would settle on the bottom of the pond and cause sludge to build up. The filter media is selected to ensure pond sludge is removed and the water remains crystal clear with safe levels of Ammonia and Nitrite to allow fish to thrive.  All of the custom filters come with customized filtration media options however we recommend using the following, bio balls for biological media (important when keeping fish), mechanical heavy duty filter brushes (to remove large waste particles) and fine filter flosses (to remove small particles to make the water crystal clear).
