This large fish pond in Harpenden Hertfordshire needed to be relined due to a leaky liner. Although a patch had been tried many years ago it was realised that a complete new liner would be needed to get the pond back to its former glory.
This job would require removal and temporary storage of pond fish as the job itself would take a week to complete. The fish were moved into fish holding tubs along with aeration to keep oxygen levels up.
The pond had been overgrown for many years so a lot of initial pruning work had to be done before the edging at the back of the pond could be removed. The crazy paving was carefully removed around the ponds edge along with the large natural rock edge.
The pond was given a fresh layer of sand and a new large shelf running across the front of the pond to allow for the addition of marginal plants. A high quality underlay was laid before the Gordon Low Greenseal liner was put in place. The pond was gradually filled and folds were kept to a minimum.
Pond edging, pointing and replacing the rock edge were the next jobs completed. Landscaping of the waterfall area, maintenance of filtration unit and filling of the pond were then completed.
The addition of fish and plants along with a net neatly secured to the ponds edge were the finishing touches to complete this impressive pond.
