This pond in Harpenden had a leak and needed to be re-lined. The previous liner didn’t stand up to the test of time so a quality EPDM Greenseal liner was used to give the customer peace of mind for many years problem free pond liner!

The following was done to refurbish this pond

  • Pond was emptied with fish being caught and stored in temporary holding
  • Aquatic lily was cut up with 50% being discarded and the rest re-potted in large pots, some pond sludge was used to help reduce pond maturation time
  • Wooden surround holding the old liner was removed along with the leaky liner
  • High quality underlay and pond liner were installed
  • Water gradually filled and creases were removed
  • Liner was cut and shaped with wood battening re-screwed to hold in place
  • fish slowly acclimatised back into pond, de-chlorinator used to break down chlorine and heavy metals present in tap water
  • Aquatic plants added back to pond
  • large amount of liner left to allow for future waterfall
